Every year it’s with much anticipation that we look forward to one of the key events in our calendar, The Spring Fair. As the UK’s leading gift and home trade show, it provides an invaluable platform for us to engage with our customers, discover new trends and gather crucial feedback. With the unveiling of our new brand identity and the addition of some exciting new products to our spring / summer portfolio, this year was no exception.
We were delighted with the positive comments received for the new look and feel of the brand. As the first major update since our foundation in 1988, we’ve worked hard to ensure that the essence of the company and our heritage shines through, whilst appealing to today’s consumer. The cleaner and more contemporary look was supported with new swing tickets featuring stunning lifestyle photography and write-ups about our British artists. This was seen as an exciting step to make the brand more accessible to consumers as well as championing our fantastic partners.
At the event we also showcased our latest products in the collection, most notably our canvas wall-art which brings to life our unique and distinct designs in an innovative format. Ranging from floral wall art to animal portraits and nautical prints to country scenes, the range also captures the designs of Christine Varley’s WaggyDogz. Hailed as a great success, not only did current customers buy into the wall designs to co-ordinate with their existing cushion business, but new retailers were also attracted by the canvases, with many going on to then buy a mix of the two formats.
Our new range of fabric by-the-metre also experienced a huge growth with many of our swatches going out into retail ready for the end-consumer to select from. In particular, the Pheasant fabric from our Country range proved extremely popular.
And not forgetting our extensive range of cushions…tapping into on-trend florals, we unveiled our new Botanicals and Floral collections and also welcomed the vibrant and evocative floral watercolours of Ruth Harris to our British Artists family. With customers starting to look towards their summer holidays, Sally Swannell’s nautical scenes and new artwork ‘Room with a View’ were also well received.
It was however the animals who proved, yet again, to be the star of the show! Our new Papillon and Tropical Birds collections attracted plenty of interest, as did Becky Brown’s characteristic and charming animals. Whilst our Country range continued to draw in the crowds with particular attention paid to our Bumble-Bee, Pheasant and Rural Leaping Hare designs.
So it’s with fondness that we say farewell to another fantastic show and thank you to all our customers who brought such positivity, ambition and support for our new product ranges and re-brand. The Spring Fair continues to be our launch-pad into the New Year and this was one of the very best yet!
